Why has my Audi TT headlight gone out after just being changed?

My car was just in the garage having a timing belt done (Audi TT Roadster 2003), I told the mechanic that the other day my passenger side main headlight (not full beam) had gone out, he put a new bulb in and I turned the lights on, it worked fine, turned them off... Driving the car home and it flashed on the dashboard bulb out, so i pulled over looked and it was the same bulb again!? Any ideas?
