Why does my Audi 1998 have smoke coming out?

I recently bought a Audi A4 yesterday and i took it out for a test drive and brought it back and there was smoke coming from under the hood. I don't think its a overheating problem. Is it burning oil?Why does my Audi 1998 have smoke coming out?if not overheating, then it could be oil dripping out the valve covers ... but that would have to be a lot, depending how much smoke you're talking.

you should open the hood and see what's smoking. Why does my Audi 1998 have smoke coming out?Let me get this straight. You test drove that Audi A4 AFTER you bought it instead of before. Hopefully you didn't spend too much money because you're looking at spending an additional $2K-$3K just to fix the leaking valve stem seals and possibly the head gasket as well.

Good LuckWhy does my Audi 1998 have smoke coming out?A very common problem Is at the top of the dip stick tube is an orange plastic sleeve you put the dip stick in They become brittle and crack allowing oil to leak out check this first.
