Why does my audi A4 shudder when starting engine?

Went to look at an audi A4 yestersay to buy but upon starting up noticed car shudders a bit. Any ideas and would this be expensive to sort?

Does it go away after the engine is started or warmed up? It probably is not the starter, and it could possibly be misfiring which would require a tune up be performed. It could also be an engine mount, take to a mechanic before you buy it and he can probably tell you for sure.

you seem to be describing rough running at idle.



a computer controlled car automatically tunes itself up thousands of times a minute. so it should always run smoothly.



if it doesn't, then the computer is getting a wrong signal - or some of the engine parts are so worn out the computer can't do it's job properly.



it could be as simple as a loose wire on a sensor. or as expensive as a whole engine.



just a thought %26gt; people sell cars for a reason. if you had an Audi that just needed a simple fix to run smooth, wouldn't you do that to get a top price? yes you would. so why hasn't this person done that? i'm guessing it's an expensive fault and that's why it's being soldWhy does my audi A4 shudder when starting engine?Probably not the starter. if it cranks over fine then the starters good. the engine could be misfiring or not firing at all.
