My audi tt squeals when i start it, why?

I have an Audii TT 180 99` model. When i start the engine it now takes a little longer to turn over and when it does it gives off a really loud squeal, Why? I dont think its any belts etc, a friend said it could be the starter motor?

No, it will be the serpentine belt. (used to be called a fan belt). Starter motors do not squeal.My audi tt squeals when i start it, why?Sounds like the water pump is faulty out of skew i had the same trouble

yes the serpentine belt has perished or the tensioner has lost some tension or you have the A/C on when you start which loads up a dry belt, starter motors can squeal after starting if the dog that slides into the gear on the flywheel gets dry , it just needs a shot of WD 40 but on some engines you have to unbolt the starter motor to do that, get friend to stand at the front with the hood open when you start - squeal at front- belt, squeal at back below engine=starter motor
it also could be Coils Audi TT is known for its bad coils I KNOW CUZ I HAVE ONE AND I JUST CHANGED A COIL YESTERDAY lolMy audi tt squeals when i start it, why?
If it isn't the belts then its probably the Ignition coils, they are known to go out in Audi's, you can pick them up from your local dealer anytime. DON'T DRIVE IT UNTIL ITS FIXED, especially if its the coils.
