Audi TT not holding charge. How complicated to DIY the alternator?

I just bought the car yesterday - 2001 225hp. Last night it stalled taking off from stop sign, then lost power and died. Battery has been checked by Auto Zone. They charged it. Car cranked up after installed. 1 hour later it won't start again. From some of these posts, sound like we should start with the alternator. Can we do it ourselves?Audi TT not holding charge. How complicated to DIY the alternator?Your battery was obviously in a low state of charge when they "checked" and charged it. You need to have the charging output checked while the engine is running. If this is OK the voltage of the battery may indicate that it is bad. Find someone more knowledgeable to check this out for you before you assume the alternator's bad and you go about changing it. Good Luck.Audi TT not holding charge. How complicated to DIY the alternator?just bolts onAudi TT not holding charge.
