Do Audi A4's have a history of having alternator problems?

I have an '07 A4 and the alternator seems to be the problem. Really?Do Audi A4's have a history of having alternator problems?Hopefully if the alternator is the problem all you will have to do is bring the car in for warranty service, since it is an '07.

But the first step is always get the problem diagnosed by an authorized Audi or VW mechanic. (Sometimes you can save money by going to a VW dealer to get work done on your Audi since they share many parts.)

The problem is that it is very easy mis-diagnose an alternator problem. There are several other things that can go wrong that can make you think it is an alternator when it really isn't. It can be something as simple as a loose wire to a complicated problem with the ignition system.

But to answer you question specifically, is there something specifically wrong with the 07 A4 alternator? No, not that I have seen, Alternators are one of those parts that if it is not built just right it can give you problems. But if you look online you will see all kinds of cars with alternator problems, even when they are new. Sometimes you just get a bad one. I have seen brand new Lexuses have alternator problems from time to time, it happens.
