the manual says 12v-55w i got some that are xenon 12v-100w will it take up alot of battery or damage anything? Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro?Highly NOT recommended! These cars (like many Volkswagen's) are known for wiring problems. You are bound to cook a module, relay, fuse, wire, switch, etc. If you don't care if your power windows, power locks, sunroof (if equipped), interior lights, engine not starting anymore or worse yet, an electrical fire is worth it, then do it but in time you may have to dispose of them anyway and maybe the whole car! Just be sure the doors are unlocked when your driving it (if they still work after installing the lights) because you may have to get out of it fast and run before it explodes. Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro?
no you will be able to see further but make shure you dim then to opossing traffic they can blind the other driver..Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro? When I was in college people used to do this alot. We also got lot of tickets for illegal use of off road devices.
Basically it is dangerous for other cars as it blinds them.
Good Luck...
P.S. As for battery / alternator issue, normally we didn't have any problem. Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro?
Yes it is ok but using high wattage bulbs on your stock wires can fry your wires, so change them to wires that can handle higher wattage. Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro?VW/Audi switches your lights on from the power side not the ground. They burn out headlights faster than any car I have ever worked on %26amp; they are known for wiring problems in the lighting system already. Don't help it along. Is it ok to use higher wattage headlights for my 98 audi a6 quattro?
the xenon 100watt bulb is offensive to the oncoming traffic //// if you are off road it is fine to lite up the nite .... it can also be a check point for your state auto inspection and cause your ride not to pass the safety check .... it probably won't damage a thing but the manufacturer of the Audi used the 12v.x55w. for a reason and it is always best to stick with the suggested part.....
