You don't have to get it serviced at an Audi dealership, but an independent garage that specializes in servicing Audis. You can find them in your area, by asking around from other Audi owners or local Audi clubs. They may offer better service and better rates than the dealers.

And yes - routine maintenance will be considerably more costly than an Altima. There's no way around that. I'm a current A6 owner and former Maxima owner, so I know where you're coming from.

It's likely that you will need to use premium fuel, particularly if it's the 1.8 or 2.0 turbo model.

Overall, if you get an Audi A4 you will have a higher overall cost of ownership. It's up to you to consider if that's worth the tradeoff.I am considering buying a audi a4 from a friend?Maintenance is fairly high, but if you keep things in check, it will be less costly in the long run. Make sure the timing belt, H20 pump, rollers, thermostat were done at 70K. Tune-ups are next to nil with today's cars, and since that car has platinum plugs, they will need replacing at 100K or have it done when the timing belt is done. It does take premium, but gas mileage is super when it has it in it.I am considering buying a audi a4 from a friend?
I own 2000 A4 and YES it runs on premium gas (1.8 TURBO). All turbo runs on premium gas only.

You can get oil changed anywhere but they might still lose extra screws that hold up the bottom panel not found in other cars.

There are no such thing as tune up on modern cars.

All major work should be done by Audi dealer as they are extra complicated that most mechanics never worked on.

Yes they are immensely expensive to maintain.

Good Luck...

P.S. I would NOT get another Audi anymore.I am considering buying a audi a4 from a friend?the car can run on regular.. that is all thats available anyhow would you consider doing the maintenance yourself.. you only need a set of ramps to change the oil and filter.. as far as tune ups all you can do is change the plugs and air filter. as long as the car does not somoke or overheat. dont worry about any thing.. you might have to replace the brake pads eventually..okI am considering buying a audi a4 from a friend?
First off, yes, the car does only run on premium fuel. Second, you can get the A4 serviced at any auto repair shop. Third, yes, the repairs will be significantly more expensive over your Altima.
