My TT is 7 years old, but has had a charmed life and only done 25,800 miles. Should a cambelt change be something I need to get done urgently? Or is it ok until it reaches a higher mileage?Does the cambelt on my Audi TT need changing? The 1st guy is dead on except the 3,000 mile oil changes. That is absurd !!!! The Audi requires around 10,000 miles and uses Synthetic that is a well know fact that you can run any engine, about 15,000 miles on that oil. Do exactly word by word on what the Owner's Manual says on the Maintenance Schedule.
Audi has a huge oil sump and about 6 Qt of Synthetic oil is overservice on a 3,000 mile schedule. That is an unnecessary expense. It says, 10,000 mile or a Year whichever comes 1st.
I think he works for the local Jiffy Lube. :-))
Good luck.Does the cambelt on my Audi TT need changing?
Change it asp by virtue of the fact you have only done 25,800 miles in 7 years would indicate they are of fairly short duration .This is all the more reason to change the belt also check the water pump has not got a plastic impeller if it has change it also no extra labour if done at same time as belt.Regards Mick UK.Does the cambelt on my Audi TT need changing? If the manufacturer says to change it, change it. Why screw around and chance destroying your engine? You have the owners manual right? Certainly you are familiar with the maintenence schedule. Do everything it says in there exept change your engine oil and filter every 3 months or 3000 miles, whichever comes first. If you haven't done that, then I would hate to live THAT charmed life.Does the cambelt on my Audi TT need changing?
id take a look a it the only thing you would have to worry about is dry rot they are good for at least 60K. if the belt isnt cracking and dry rotted then you should be fine if it has hairline crack through it and looks dry rotted then have it changed.Does the cambelt on my Audi TT need changing?regarding to the user who wrote about oil change every 5k-10k miles. My ttq 225 is said (from local shop) to be burning 1q of oil (i use mobil synthetic) every 1k miles. I run the car for about 3k miles then I see the oil sensor come on, I fill it another quart, then after another 1k miles, the oil light comes on again. Is this normal to burn that much oil? I'm getting no leaks anywhere...
