Can I expect anything better than that? Do Audi's get their speedy performance by simply flooding their engines or are the fuel economy estimates a bit poor?Whats the REAL fuel economy for a 2000 Audi A6 Quattro?15/22mpg
buy a bmw 540i, has a nice V8, looks good, and gives 16/22mpg almost the same as the audiWhats the REAL fuel economy for a 2000 Audi A6 Quattro? It depends on your engine. Mine is a 2.7T and the original papers that came with it when I bought it used, advertised it at 17 city/21 highway. You probably have the 4.2 (the V8) if your getting city mpg that's lower than mine but higher than mine for the highway. However, depending on the mileage, you can expect it to be even lower than that. According to my trip computer, I get about 14 city/19 highway and I have just over 100,000 miles. This might be indicative of a failing exhaust part since I do get OBD codes once in a while saying the something is below threshold (I'll ignore it until its actually broken). But I wouldn't discount mere wear and tear. And any percentage of lost fuel economy you experience will likely be more than me in your naturally aspirated V8. Driving habit matters of course and on the highway, I can get it up to or more than 30 mpg.
