What are the differences between Audi and Volkswagen?

i can appreciate the styling and the all wheel drive, but is the performance and handling far superior?What are the differences between Audi and Volkswagen?As far as technology, not much. They both share technology with each other. The R and D departments have different goals. The Audi guys shoot more to a sport luxury feel where the VW guys are more for economy. That's why there is a difference in prices. Actually working on the cars is about the same but the new cars are getting farther and farther apart in the ways that they do things. Audi still has their own technology and VW has its own technology. This helps to differentiate the two brands.What are the differences between Audi and Volkswagen?Performance is pretty much the same, most engines found in audis, are found in vws. The audi a3 and the tt are much the same as the vw golf/jetta/r32. The a4 at one time had alot in common with the passat. The 4motion drivetrain from vw is the same as the dirvetrain badged as quattro in the audi TT and the A3. The first car with a real quattro transmission is the a4.



As far as handling goes it is a toss up. The audis have loads of grip with the quattro, but are much heavier. The volkswagens are generally lighter, and do not usually come with 4motion or awd. If you are getting an a4 you are buying it for the awd. If you live in florida or somewhere else with no real turns or nasty weather to speak of, then get a vw.



In summary the major differences are that audi cars a known for the quattro awd, and vw doesnt. (I drive a vw in the summer and an audi in the winter)

Audi is a better brand just behind Mercedes Benz and BMW
