Have 99 audi a6 was working fine drove to the gas station and came out now the car wan't start any ideas whats

If the vehicle is a manual trans, it might have a deadman switch that went bad. If not, then the battery might have shorted a cell. Have you checked the battery posts and the cables from it to the block, the alternator, etc for corrosion? Was it extremely hot when you drove (vapor lock is possible, but not likely)? Does the solenoid click, or do you hear nothing? How old is the battery? My VW Jetta and Rabbits were hard on batteries; if they lasted over 4 years that was good...Have 99 audi a6 was working fine drove to the gas station and came out now the car wan't start any ideas whatsDoes it click? does it turn i.e. engine clicks or the engine rolls but does not start? Maybe the solenoid to the starter is burnt out.
