Yesterday I noticed it was struggling to start and then last night I went to start my car and heard clicking when I went to start the engine. Also beeping in the dash board. Battery is not dead as I have full power and lights. It is a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T. After I stop trying to start the car the power goes out then turns on about 3 seconds later. Sounds like starter? Can I get under the car and hit it with a hammer? What do you think?Does this sound like my starter went out in my Audi?Clean the battery terminals on your battery, it does sound like a battery problem- but since you said your battery is fine- it must be dirty battery studs/terminal connection (even if they don't look dirty, still clean them)Does this sound like my starter went out in my Audi?it sounds like a bad battery. just because you have lights does not mean the battery has enough power to start the car. try starting the car with the lights on and see how much they dim, dim a lot-battery, dim medium-could be starter or solenoid problem, dim not at all-starter or solenoid bad.Does this sound like my starter went out in my Audi?Sounds like a dead battery to me. "Full power and lights" takes about 10 amps, starting the engine takes around 200. When a battery dies, it will still put out *a little* power but not start the car. Batteries generate electricity by dissolving lead and zinc plates with acid, they wear out. Get a new one every 5 years if you live in a place that gets snow/winter.Does this sound like my starter went out in my Audi?
It IS the battery.
