Are 2004 Audi S4 Manual V8 sedans reliable in regards to avoiding maintenance and frequent problems?

I am looking into possibly purchasing a 2004 Audi S4 Sedan Quattro MT6 and have heard that Audis are known to not only be in the shop frequently but have high maintenance costs. Obviously costs are part of maintaining a vehicle, this goes without saying. However, are Audis particularly susceptible to frequent part failure in comparison to competitors like BMW and Mercedes? I have never owned an Audi and would greatly appreciate advice and input from someone who has, particularly a 2004 S4.Are 2004 Audi S4 Manual V8 sedans reliable in regards to avoiding maintenance and frequent problems? For a more detailed analysis of the 04 S4 visit www.quattroworld.com and go to the appropriate year forum. I have an 02 S4 that I've owned since new and it has been very reliable. Audis are not more susceptible than BMW's or Merc's to part failure. However, I have noticed that those who complain about failures are often the guys who beat on their cars, have outlandish performance modifications etc. Over time on the forums, I've noticed when these individuals jump to a different make, a BMW or a Subaru, or even a new model S4 their complaints follow them. Are 2004 Audi S4 Manual V8 sedans reliable in regards to avoiding maintenance and frequent problems?they are extremely reliable when serviced regularly by someone who knows audis you need to go to a specialist not necessarily a main dealer, they are built like VWs so solid build quality, parts are slightly more expensive but that's down to the quality of the parts, if you buy from an importer they are much cheaper
